Expected to be the last rival of Khabib Nurmagomedov. But so far, GSP still proved uncertain about the ability to reach Khabib.
Former UFC 2 weight class champion, MMA legend George St. Pierre has long been targeted as one of the lightest superstar Khabib Nurmgomedov’s brightest opponents.
George St. Pierre, 38, is currently retired from MMA due to health reasons. The first time was in 2013, then, in 2017, GSP returned to the ring, but then continued to break up with the ring because of intestinal ulcers due to overweight.
Share with reporter Malata of Daily Express, St. Pierre said that the match between him and Khabib was entirely in the hands of the UFC. Worth mentioning, the one-time UFC champion admitted he would be a bit hesitant if he was offered a job.
Khabib vs GSP is a match that many people look forward to
This is probably bad news for longtime MMA fans because both GSP and Khabib are considered the best fighters in MMA club fights. This is also the more anticipated match than the Khabib vs Conor McGregor match because the expertise between these two boxers is considered to be the most comprehensive.
Recently, Khabib has also repeatedly mentioned his retirement plan with a final match against George St. Pierre. It is difficult to understand why the UFC missed this opportunity to host this super match.
Dana White would rather see the GSP legend commentary than confront Khabib
Although he is a famous martial artist, Mr. Dana White said he did not want the Khabib-GSP super match to happen.
Dana White didn’t seem to be clear about whether he wanted the battle of Khabib-St or didn’t. Pierre happens. Recently, UFC President Dana White shared about Khabib’s retirement game at UFC, but he also said he wanted legend George St. Pierre (the most anticipated rival for Khabib Nurmagomedov) is a commentator for the UFC rather than fighting the unbeaten Russian.
The GSP-Khabib matchup is one of the fans’ most anticipated matches
George St. Pierre is currently a French commentator for RDS, a French TV channel for Canadian-French in Canada. Last year, George retired for the second time due to health problems. Before that, the legend returned to the ring in 2017 and beat mid-range defending champion Michael Bisping.
Particularly with Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Russian boxer will defend the light championship title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on October 24. And no matter how exciting the game against GSP, Khabib won’t be able to go any further if he doesn’t get past Gaethje in October this year.
